App versus browser: which should you use on roll20
Our roll20 app offers several advantages over the browser version. The app caches data locally, so you can view your account balance and recent bets even without an internet connection. Push notifications alert you to live match updates, odds changes, and withdrawal confirmations. The app also loads faster because it doesn't need to fetch the entire page each time. However, the browser version works on any device without installation and updates automatically. Choose the app if you use roll20 frequently; choose the browser if you prefer simplicity or use multiple devices.
App benefits on roll20

- Offline access to your account balance and history
- Push notifications for live events and withdrawals

Device compatibility for roll20
Our roll20 app requires Android 7.0 or higher on Android devices, and iOS 12.0 or higher on Apple devices. Most phones and tablets released in the last five years meet these requirements. If your device is older, you can still access roll20 through your mobile browser. We support all major Android manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme) and all iPhone models from iPhone 6s onwards. Tablet access is fully supported on both platforms.
Common installation issues and solutions on roll20
If you see a message saying "Unknown app" or "Cannot install," your device may have blocked installation from unknown sources. On Android, go to Settings → Security → Unknown Sources and enable it, then try installing again. If you see a certificate warning, this is normal for APK installations; tap "Install anyway" to proceed. On iOS, if the web app doesn't appear on your home screen, try again in Safari and make sure you select "Add to Home Screen" from the share menu. If the app crashes after installation, try clearing your device's cache or reinstalling. Contact our support team if problems persist.
Data, permissions, and account security on roll20
The roll20 app requests permission to access your device's camera (for identity verification during KYC), microphone (for live-dealer table audio), and location (to verify you're in a supported jurisdiction). We encrypt all data in transit using industry-standard protocols. Your password is never stored on your device; you authenticate each session with roll20's servers. Enable two-factor authentication in your account settings for extra protection. If you lose your device, log into roll20 from another device and change your password immediately. Your account will be secured, and you can request a withdrawal to your linked payment method.
